Inmate Search in New Mexico

Several states maintain websites that contain the database for the current inmates housed by that state’s facilities. The New Mexico Department of Corrections maintains a website of its current criminal population including incarcerated individuals, parolees, and inmates on probation. This is a free service provided to the public in the interest of public safety.

Follow this link to access the New Mexico Department of Corrections: http://corrections.state.nm.us/offenders/search.php.

This will direct you to the main page for the offender search for New Mexico. On the top of the page, you will see the heading “New Mexico Corrections Department.” Directly below this heading, you will see the subheading “Offender Information.” Directly below this subheading, you will see another subheading labeled “New Mexico Offender Search.”

Three search boxes are shown directly beneath that one each for the last name, first name, or NMCD number. Once you have entered your data, a button labeled “Search” is available.

On the left hand side a menu selection exists for other services offered through the website. They include: directory, adult prisons, probation & parole, parole board, offender information, programs and services, industries, victim services, offender family services, administrative services, offender statistics, and policies.

Beneath the search boxes, several lines of red text inform you that the information concerning the whereabouts of offenders should be verified through the Probation and Parole Office or the incarceration institution. At the very bottom of the page, an email address is provided for any comments or further assistance you might need. The address is CDFamilySrvcs@state.nm.us.

In order to use the New Mexico Department of Corrections Offender Search, you must have access to either the inmate’s NMCD number or the inmate’s last name. If you are conducting your search with the New Mexico Corrections Department ID number, then you should not enter the name.

After you have submitted your data, the same page appears with the addition of the results to your query. The results are listed below the lines of red text. The results are presented in a chart like appearance and include the following information about each inmate: last name, first name, date of birth, location, NMCD number, supervision, offense, and picture. Additionally, it is important to note that lonely inmates whose names match the data that you entered exactly will appear in the list.

The location will provide the name of the institution where an incarcerated inmate is currently housed. It will also provide the name of the district office that is in charge of inmates who are on probation or currently on parole. The supervision data simply lists the status of the individual, that is, inmate, probation, or parolee.

The offense will list the crime or offense for which the inmate received sentencing. It will also list the degree that is associated with the crime.

The picture is not presented in the chart, but rather a live link to the picture is present. If you click the link for the picture, it will open a new, smaller window with the inmate’s mug shot or prison photograph shown in it. The inmate will be holding a placard that lists the date, the NMCD number, the inmate’s last name, and the inmate’s last name.

If any of the inmates have been charged and sentenced for more than one crime, they are listed separately for each additional offense. You can easily recognize this fact by looking at the inmate’s NMCD ID number.

If your search is not productive, then instead of a chart of names, you will be given the following message: “No Results Found.” If you decide to begin a new search, simply enter new data into the search boxes, and click enter.
