Inmate Search in Idaho
Searching for inmates online is a
relatively simple process. Many
states have their own independent
system for this. In fact,
thirty-three states formed a group
to provide a free search for
offenders within their jurisdiction
through websites. Each state
maintains its own independent web
site for use by the public.
Variations exist in the design of
the site, the search criteria, and
the information presented for
perusal. State laws determine some
of the information that is available
for public viewing.
It is important to note that the
website may not work properly with
certain browsers. In fact, the web
pages may partially load onto your
computer screen, but integral parts
may be missing. If you encounter
this difficulty, you may want to
consider using a computer at a
public library to complete your
searches. In some cases, you won’t
be able to tell because the missing
information is minimal.
Some databases will contain
information only on inmates who are
currently incarcerated, paroled, or
on probation within that state.
Other sites also include inmates who
are deceased, escaped, released, or
no longer resident in the
correctional system. Idaho provides
information on inmates who have been
released, but this information does
not include the offence for which he
or she was convicted and
incarcerated.

This directs you to the Idaho
Department of Correction offender
search page. On the top of the page,
their mission statement, a welcome
statement, and a brief explanation
of how the search feature works.
Directly below this, in the center
of the page, three search boxes are
offered: last name of offender,
first name of offender, and offender
number. It is important to note that
some offenders may actually have
more than one offender number.
However, searching with any of the
numbers should lead to results.
Once you have entered your data and
selected to search, your results
will be generated.
The results to your search are
presented in a grid like chart that
includes the following information:
offender’s number, full name of
offender, and the current status of
the offender. The offender’s
identification number is a live link
that will direct the viewer to more
information on the offender.
Only basic information is presented
including the offender’s name, ID
number, status, date of birth,
mailing address, phone number,
offense, sentencing county, case
number, and sentence satisfaction
date. At the top of the chart, two
links are available that will allow
you to begin a new search or to
return to the results.
If the offender has already been
discharged, then the only
information that is available for
viewing includes the offender’s
name, the ID number, status, date of
birth, and the date of discharge.

the main page of the Idaho offender

presented for several types of
requests. If an individual has a
request for additional basic
information concerning an inmate, an
