Inmate Search in Colorado

Free searches online for inmates or offenders within their jurisdiction are provided by various states through websites designed for use by the public. Each state maintains its own independent website with variations in the design of the site, the search criteria, and the information presented for public access. State laws may determine some of these details.

It is important to note that the website may not work properly with certain browsers. In fact, the web pages may partially load onto your computer screen, but integral parts may be missing. If you encounter this difficulty, you may want to consider using a computer at a public library to complete your searches. In some cases, you won’t be able to tell because the missing information is minimal.

Some databases will contain information only on inmates who are currently incarcerated, paroled, or on probation within that state. Other sites also include inmates who are deceased, escaped, released, or no longer resident in the correctional system. The state of Colorado does not provide information on offenders who have been discharged.

To acquire access to the database for inmates in the state of Colorado, use the following link: https://exdoc.state.co.us/inmate_locator/offender_search_splash.php.

In the center of the page, several search criteria boxes are located. They are labeled DOC number, last name, first name, date of birth, and gender.

The date of birth must be entered in the following format: mm/dd/yyyy. Additionally, you have the option to search plus or minus six months to this date by clicking in a small box. Next, you will see an option to select to have photos shown on the results page or to omit photos on the results page. . Even if you select to omit the photos from the results page, photos will be shown on all of the detail pages for each inmate.

Also, you may select the number of results that you want shown per page. You must select from the following: 20, 40, 60, or 80. Below this information, two options are available: submit or reset.

It is possible to search without filling in all of the search boxes. The least amount of information that you can enter is the last name for the inmate. Once you have entered your data and selected to search, your results will be generated.

The results to your search are presented in a grid like chart that opens in a new window and includes the following headings: name, DOC #, ethnicity, gender, current facility, and date of birth. Directly below the chart, you have the option to select a new search.
